In the south of France, at the doorstep of the walled city of Aigues-Mortes, lays a wild and protected land: the salt lakes of Camargue. In the core of this preserved ecosystem, enjoying a unique biodiversity, generations of craftsmen have been harvesting salt since Antiquity. The salt lakes of Camargue, which used to be a royal property, belong to the European salt leader, Compagnie des Salins du Midi, since 1985. In 2010, a team of experts in microalgae processing researched on the microorganisms which grow on the site. The scientific investigation revealed the presence of another precious resource, a halophytic green microalgae with promising and untapped potential, Dunaliella Salina. This microalgae blooms only in the heart of the salt lakes, particularly in Aigues-Mortes, where the story of a new natural cosmetics brand begins
